Smoke And Mirrors

SO I pretty much just came to the realization, that I'm creating my own universe, I mean we all are (those who are aware) but I have been dreaming/scheming for some time now, in my head, in sketchbooks, and random napkin notes, doodles etc. On just exactly what I want in my life and what my dreams are, and how to accomplish those dreams..... Corny as it sounds, they say anything is possible if you can dream it, or "my momma always told me I could be whatever I want".
ITS TOTALLY TRUE... We live in the fucking matrix, its up to you to unplug and start living like Neo.

Within the last few weeks, I have seen many of my dreams manifest and start to take form. I now have my own dot com: http://www.thedirtycash.com, which will soon feature my music, bio, video, and dj mixes. I have been working with the good homie Bobby Digital/ Stunt 101 Media Group
on my website, and business cards.. Both are looking great, and might just blow your mind. Im finally, FINALLY making music.. On top of that I have set out to conquer Hollywood, and then the world. Well "conquer" might be a strong word.

LA is a trip to say the least. Hollywood is smaller than you think and celebs and "A listers" are a strange phenomenon. (Fatlip is one cool dude tho, he dug my business card, and maybe I can get him on a dirt track?) Im not gonna talk shit the scene in LA, or try to bad mouth people to make a name for the dirt, but hollywood really aint all that its cracked up to be. I was looking at old blog entries here, and its funny because I used to blog about the the life I'm finally living. Metaphorically speaking, I wrote the dirty cash saga in my head long ago, and I have always knows that I wanted to make music. Then after I had realized I was bored with the all that Santa Barbara had to offer, I kinda said to myself," I'm gonna chase this mother fucking, metal band/electro/dubstep/screamo/dj/singer dream until it happens" My friend Inti once told me, years ago, "DO YOU" and thats the motto I have followed since 12 or 13.... originate, never imitate.

Look out world...... This native alien is set on keeping my name on your mind, and my songs stuck in ur head.

OH.... i totally need to thank every friend, or extended family who has said, "you can make that shit" or "do you" or "I like ur steez". I should even thank a few of the people who have told me " You cant" or "give up"........I have built up quite the network of amazing people in my life, and weened out a lot of the haters, psychic vampires and negativity. but in many ways, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all of you.

Worship The Moon, Stars And Earth

Funny how I have been having this same conversation for months now, about the"rave scene" in LA. This weekend I went to party thrown by one of the oldest, still running party crews in LA: Moontribe and I have to say, even with near freezing temps, rain, sleet and wind, people still gathered to celebrate mother earth, good music, and unity through music.

Growing up in Santa Barbara California, I was exposed to a bunch of counter culture lifestyles. My high school Dos Pueblos, was referred to as the "hippy high" and although many teens try pot, or smoke it occasionally, we had some real stoners at our school, I happened to be one of them, and I also happened to be one of the few "raver" kids at my school. Those days you there were only a handful of kids who identified with the counterculture (skaters, taggers, gangsters, goths, punks) and while the rest of the kids also smoked weed, we were the ones who tried to look beyond the beaches and palm trees, and surfing and high school parties at rich kids houses.

Back then you actually had to research your music/lifestyle through magazines, shows, record stores, word of mouth, and flyers. The internet was still in its infantile stages, and if you wanted to get involved in any scene, you had to actually leave your house.

I got into tagging, skating, hip hop and breakdancing really early, and for me, I guess I was always interested in the breaks and synths in early hip hop. Then in about 96-97 I was introduced to techno,gabber house, and jungle. That pretty much changed my life.

From then on, I was that "raver kid" candy gear, binky and all. Kickwear jeans, GAT, JNCO, if you know those days, you KNOW what im talking about... Plur was a concept older ravers taught younger ravers, people in the scene looked after each other, and the earth. If you and 100 of your friends went to the local mountains with turntables, a generator and records (remember those?) everyone would stay to help clean up, and there were no fights or overdoses. If someone was passing out, or having a bad trip, or too fucked up, it was on you to help out. The idea of everyone working together and helping out, was an idea I have always grown up with. Communal living was imprinted in my dna, I come from hippy stock.

Flash forward 13 or 14 years to present days. The word RAVE has become a bad and ugly word to many. I pretty much swore of massives and large LA raves, after seeing an altercation at Together As One 2001, that lead to a kid getting stabbed over an E pill (he lived). I have always remained a fan of the music, and still went to clubs like RESPECT and other venues hosting djs that I had to see, but I had never really wanted to go to another "massive"

Then in 2008 I had the chance to check out Lightning in a Bottle, in the Santa Barbara hills. I have to say, kinda changed my life again. Plur didnt die, it just grew up, and decided to return to mother nature. Thats where these renagade "tribes" come in, like locally: the do lab, and moontribe, alma, green sector, terrachroma etc. People are still getting together to dance outdoors, share stories, food, and some greens. This summer I had the opportunity to go to LIB, Raindance in Santa Cruz (big ups) Electric Daisy Carnival (never again), and then Burning Man. It was amazing to see where electronic music has gone, and how much love is still in the scene. It was also pretty sad to see, (@ EDC) a kid passing out, eyes rolling back in his head, falling over into a muddy puddle, and nobody helping out. Other kids just looked on and exclaimed "dudeeesss fuckedd up" and kept on walking. Obviously nobody taught these kids about helping your brother up, giving him some water, and finding his friends.

Call me a hippy if you like, but I still fucking hate patulli. I got back to my hippy roots and played around on ancient boulders, with good bass and great people. Sometimes its the simple things that make you give thanks for being alive.

Broadcasting Live From Outer Space

SO..... Im back, well, the blog is back. I know i said this before, but this time I mean it! I finally have a working computer, and internet, so its time to start yappin again I live in a new city (still LA) well some would debate that, but these days you can catch me roaming the streets of north Hollywood CA.... and Im making music, I finally got myself a website, and I'm working on original tunes as well as a mixtape. Im also painting and making wheatpaste(s).

I have had quite the adventurous 7 month stay in the city of angels. You can learn a lot from getting out of your comfort zone, and I thank each and everyone in my life that have contributed to me getting to where I am today. From shady roommates, to drug addicted roommates, to shady drug addicted roommates, to shitty bosses, great teachers, ex girlfriends, everyone has played a little part in getting me here. I wouldn't take back any of the crazy shit I have seen, been through or done in the past 28 years, let alone the last seven months. Big shouts to all the real family (my friends are my family) who stood by and kept saying I could. haha (Mom, this is our year)

LA has a way of breaking people who aren't ready, or focused enough what that dream is. Im sure plenty of people dont make it here... actually I hear stories all the time about bands, actors, models, whatever, not making it here and resorting to living a world of shit, via drugs and alcohol, prostitution, homelessness. I'm not gonna name names, or shit on everyone directly, but they dont call LA the snake pit, for no reason, its cut thoat out there. Also Losers dont need any free publicity, so Im glad I have moved on, and with every door that closes, 3 more seem to always open up. Oh and karma is a bitch I hear.

Burning Man was a trip, in every definition of the word. I will go into that story when I have some time, but basically, its everything you read about and more. I plan on going again this year, this picture sums up some of my best playa memories:

Last year a tent and my pickup truck just were not enough for the harsh conditions, so this year I plan on building a hexayurt

Hopefully I can even be cool enough to build my yurt before Lightning In a Bottle because I already have my ticket for that. I went in 2008 in Santa Barbara (and last year in the OC) and I must say that its my favorite party. I really think you all should go.

Hello again small world, long time no update huh?

So I made the big move to the city of angels.. I'm currently living in downtown LA in a awesome art gallery/studio space in the grimey industrial section of Santa Fe ave. Things are going amazing and its been quite a busy summer indeed. I have been enjoying getting acclimated to LA, and have had the pleasure of attending Lightning in a Bottle, Raindance, and the EDC... I'm also currently working on a live death metal/dubstep/screamo/techno band.

You can expect more from me in the future, I might even start updating daily again.... the dirt report is back with a whole new swagga.... keep watch blog friends, this summer will be full of epic adventures

Calling it Quits

Trouble and Bass @ the Echo

So its been at least two weeks since this show... .but I figured it was a night worth blogging about and its kinda where I left off here....

I have never been to the Echo, nor have I ever went to a club/bar by myself....but I couldn't turn down my chance to see the whole Trouble and Bass crew for free....

Club was small but chill..... Good size turn out but the place wasnt overly packed... I ran into Dj Dan-o... Saw Reid Speed.....

Dj Skeet skeet opened the night with some solid dubstep bass madness....

The Captain went on next and opened with Birthday sex..... good song to open a bass heavy techno set....

Star Eyes was very impressive with a fast and heavy/bounce set that got people moving around.... she even did some live vocals on a few tracks including disappear wich was SICK to see/hear....

AC Slater (liked my t-shirt) brought the energy level up a few like ten notches when he came on....

Gigantor from Evol Intent/Computer Club... was mad chill..... He also informed me that EWUN from Evol Intent is Kill the Noise

Drop the Lime Came on and KILLED it.... he sang some live vocals too.......

Then the whole crew did a 4x4 kinda battle/freestyle set..... Shit was HARD.... at some point ( a little faded at this point) a circle pit broke out for a jungle track...... I got in the mix but forgot to take a picture of it...

Good night indeeed....... good to hear some new tunes and to hear some tracks that I love/bump....

Next morning I had an audition for some sort of reality/clip/blogger show, it was actually named "untitled clip show" on the check in sheet.....

I told them I was the person for the job and they filmed me talking out my ass/introducing some goofy clips........ still have not heard back from them, and considering the other applicants/auditionees were a hot polish/swedish chick, a hippy yuppy hot chick and a surfer dude....I'm sure I was not the look they needed.......

Hello again friends..... No crazy rockstar/party hard weekend for me.......This weekend layed low and got a visit from my mom..... It was her birthday, or actually it IS her birthday today... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!! I love you...

So in honor of that I did a little bit of cooking for her.....I was gonna post a whole, step by step how-to, on my semi-famous Pineapple brown fried rice..... but I was stoned and hungry.... so all I remembered to take a picture of was the aftermath..

Granted, this could be due to the fact that her pussy smelled of vinegar and fish guts. That probably put me in a pretty shitty mood, too. Second, id say was a director… shit, what was her name… for Metro. Brandi, or something. She was literally famous for shoving baseball bats up her asshole. And she’s giving ME attitude?

Dave: That tends to diminish a person’s credibility a little. So, are all male porn stars basically just unfrozen cavemen?

Texas: God, I wish I could talk shit here, but in actuality, some of the coolest guys I know are male porn stars. Something to be said for a guy who gets to fuck hot-ass women all day long, and make $1,500 a day doing it. They’re the most laid back, no-bullshit kind of guys. Maybe I was just lucky.

It takes a certain amount of patience. Hot women are fucking insane. And you’re combining hot women with hot women who clearly have issues. These guys see some shit.

Dave: Being close to the industry, did you ever hear any awesome gossip that you were sworn to secrecy about, but which you’ll repeat here because it’s funny?

Texas: Yes… this is a horrible story, actually.

Dave: Horrible stories are the best.

Texas:I wont use her name, because I actually do like her,.but I always think of it whenever I see her in movies now. Even though she’s smokin’ hot and a great performer… I can’t ever stand to watch…

So, she’s younger… like 20, which in the industry is like MILF age now. Anyway, she meets this guy on MySpace, and he’s like this little small town podunk backwoods marine or something, and he’s even younger than her. Completely naïve. He’s never even SEEN a porno, and this girl is like hugely famous in the industry. She has the dirtiest mouth I’ve ever heard, fucks the biggest dicks, does anal, double penetration, the whole 9, and she’s dating this 18 year old kid.

So they fly back and forth to see each other. And she’s crying to me, telling me that she feels so bad, she doesn’t want to tell him everything she’s done (which I understand) and then she launches into this tirade on all the STD’s she’s gotten over the years (most of them before porn; they test you in the industry). And im thinking “oh, she got the clap once or twice or whatever, and it can’t be that bad, yadda yadda yadda.”

Oh boy was I wrong. She’s like “I’ve had gonorrhea four times, I’ve had warts burned off three times, Chlamydia like who knows how many times, and the list goes on. Its been a long long time since I have been to a LA "rave" or massive... The last time I went to such a party was Together As One 2001, and while I had an awesome time, I also had one of my last experiences doing tons of drugs and stumbling around the LA sports arena and Colisium... eyes bugging out of my head.... I noticed that night that the elements of Peach Love Unity and Respect (PLUR for you youngins) were definitely not in effect at this party.... Too many "party crews" (gangs that wore candy necklaces) and other shady fools trying to sell bunk E, stab kids (Yes kids got stabbed and people died from overdoses) and molest 14 year old girls.....So I pretty much vowed never to go back to the any Massive held at this venue....

Hello world....... I visited the great town of San Fransisco this weekend.... I must say that I officially love that city and am now heavily considering moving there.... My (now former) next door neighbor needed a little help moving to her new place in Daily City, and so we grabbed a pack or peach Swishers, packed a uhaul and took off up the 101...

Pit stop #1 consisted of oreo Mcflurrys and finding the Vans outlet in Pismo..... In true dirtyCASH style, I tend to not buy stuff unless its on sale... and Outlet shopping is always good to me....... Just like Ross or TJ MAXX, you can find some amazing shit, if you take the time to look..... I found These:

They also had the Steve Cabalerro Sk8 Hi's and the Mike Giant Slip ons (but I didnt get those)..... all for buy one get one half off and they were already marked down.... New Kicks always make a dirt feel great, esp when they are limited and not full price.....

Got in town pretty late..... met up with the homie CeeCee who lives in San Bruno....smoked another blunt and called it a night.....

Saturday woke up, and went for a little tour of the neighborhood... Stopped into a little Vietnamese pho spot for a late breakfast.... I ordered the BBQ pork Bahn Mi... and Erin ordered the Veg-ta-boll eggroll and dry Vermicelli.... Too bad for Erin (a vegan) Vegetable eggroll means pork eggroll in Daily City... So my fat ass got to eat both..... Went around to a few tourist spots... Checked out Haight.. Which I have not done since I was about 11 or 12 years old.... Checked out True and FTC and some head shops..... Saw a bunch of amazing graffiti... fools put it down HARD in SF.... Saw some work from Giant, Reyes, and this dude Klever was up everywherrr....No digital camera to take pictures of all the graff, but I DID take a few pictures with a disposable camera (remember those?) and will get those up as soon as they are developed....

Sunday I went to a Catholic Church (more like a Cathedral) for the first time..Shit was crazy...It was my buddy Seannas Confirmation, and it was a good to be there for support.. and to hear what the Catholic people had to say...... It was held at St Mary's on Gough st...and it was freaking HUGE...

I love San Fransisco... and I love pretty much all big cities.... and I have been feeling very stagnant as of late in Santa Barbara..... Being in the bay made me realize that there is soo much more to life than just working a day job... everyday to pay your bills..... and I have been itching to move for some time now to either Brooklyn, LA, or SF....... and while Santa Barbara has great weed, nice beaches, and tons of really good mexican food... I think I need to move to a big city before I get stuck here......Also my currnet tattoo artist Nate, is moving to LA again.. So I might need to move down that way to finish my sleeve.....

Some serious reasons I would move to SF include:
1) Mike Giant and Rebel 8 are both in SF and I don't know if they still need interns, assistants or slaves, but I would be down....
2)The Graff scene is still alive and kicking... and I can produce street art with relative anonymity...
3) The Food.
4) Love Fest,Bay to The Breakers, Folsom Street Fair, and anywhere else you can run around like this:

Hello world.... What do you think about the term "Hipster" and the associated subculture???

Some of you may have heard the term, some of you might have been called a hipster.... I don't think I have ever been called a hipster (to my face) nor do I think I associate with anything too "hipster" except for for my love and support of the "streetwear" brand Mishka... Apperently hipsters HATE being called a hipster..... Here in good old Santa Barbara CA (where fashion and trends usually fall at least a few years behind bigger cities like LA and NYC) I think people associate hipsters with fixed gear bikes, as people generally do in other cities, and I can say that while I would probably never ride a fixed gear bike I do like/wear/support clothing brands that fixie kids identify their culture with (Mishka, The Hundreds, Rebel 8)

I think I first heard the term hipster while looking at a copy of Vice Magazine... I always saw it a more of a look than a culture or sub culture.... Its funny how most other cultures don't mind being labeled what the identify themselves with, Surfers are surfers, Skaters are happy to be called skaters, Ravers, Goth kids, Punks, Metal heads, all usually don't mind hearing about how big of a "insert term here" they are.....

I would consider myself a ex candy-raver and junglist (do people even still use the term junglist?) because I will always have love for electronic bass heavy music ... but I also spent the majority of my youth going to raves, punk shows, breakdancing, doing graffitti, riding lowrider bikes, surfing, Skating at Powell Peralta skate zone,smoking weed, drinking 40oz', moshing and getting into all sorts of trouble....
But I still would call myself a raver, and anyone from my high school would agree...but I'm pretty sure all of these things are now considered to be hipster....

I still love the music but no longer consider myself and "active raver" do a lot of the drugs associated with the culture and no longer go to Massives every weekend because of the average age group.

Also, growing up in southern California I got exposed to (and sought out,long before the internet)so many different types of sub-cultures, and was able to pick and choose what I liked, listened to, and dressed like because all of the kids I hung out with all fell into one big clump of kids, the potheads and stoners... Pretty much the anti-preppy cast of kids/loners..... but no one then had even heard the term hipster.....Nor would anyone get offended if you called them Goth, Hesh, Punk, Edge, or anything else.......

back to the subject of Hipsters... Mishka, by far gets the most hate for being a hipster brand, and I think Greg Rivera actually even wrote a post about everyone who works for Mishka is a hipster..... Well here is what one Mishkateer (as he put it) named Toilet Cobra had to say about the whole hipster name calling thing..That in turn brought up a ton of comments from fellow hipsters, here are a few of my favs:

So believe it or not, my mother reads and loves my blog on the daily, and always asks me "whats up with the big gun on your header?" I told her the background on it, and that it was from this story I read right before starting my blog, about how American gun companies are, believe it or not making guns for drug cartels and smugglers. I wish I could find that article to link it for you guys, but I think it's a gun made by Colt, called something like the "El Presedente" Does that make any sense?? an American gun company making big shiny guns with mexican names?? YUP drug money from Mex is a HUGE business.... and people are being killed on the daily with guns made in America. Don't believe me, Read up on it and see what that line of coke you snorted actually took to get to your nostril. Juarez Mexico is currently seeing a rise in killings, and I have heard some crzy stories form some of my mexican cousins from El Paso, its pretty much the wild west and YOU are fueling the fire by doing blow....

So my home town of sunny Santa Barbara CA is on fire again.... Its crazy out... hot from the fire, smokey and hellish. I still don't have a camera but here are some of the images that I found.... The power keeps going out and there are manditory evacuation orders for almost all of the Eastside... Good thing I live deep in the Westside.....

Update: Shit has officially gone from bad to "ALL HELL HAS BROKE LOOSE" according to the fire chief of SB.....

Sneakers And Hype

Here is a post that I found to be super proactive in not giving in to the consumer-driven culture of limited sneakers. Now I'm not one to talk when it comes to buying un-needed gear, fitted caps, or sneakers, and tho I have never dropped $300 plus bucks on some dunks or Jordans (not that I don't want to, and I probably would had I not bought a motorcycle) I think the whole air Yeezy thing is kinda gone overboard.

I had a chance to stay up all night, and possibly buy the first colorway of the shoe at retail cost ($230) when they dropped a few weeks ago... But I figured I really REALLY like my sleep, and if I couldn't sell them, I prolly wouldn't wear them because they were kinda fugly. Also I have done the whole, wait in a line, all night for a product thing, and it's not worth it no matter how much I could slang them on ebay for. Then I hit up the homie Gomez to see what he though about the shoe and if he knew any insider info on the shoe, and his words of wisdom were "Buy them only if you like them"

Yesterday I read this post on Switch's blog, and saw that Levi Maestro was selling the Yeezy's he most likely got for free, but putting all the proceeds to chairity:

So if you really need to spend $700 on a pair of Air Gayfish's.... then buy the Maestro ones because 100% of those proceeds are going to a good cause...

I just checked the boobs blog as I usually do and found that Des posted an interesting entry on the subject of Cunninglus.

Seems to me they’ve had a bad experience or have yet to get an acquired taste. Let’s not forget that spunk doesn’t taste like a bowl of cold stone birthday cake concoction either.

I can’t speak on behalf of how other ladies tend to themselves, but I can and will speak for myself. I am low or no maintenance to hang with and expect the same from my friends and crushes, but when it comes to my body I am on top of my game. Brazilian waxes, kiegels, cute underwear, showering, exercise, healthy eating, and doctor visits to give me the satisfaction of knowing I’m clean. True some of these things I picked up from having to dress in front of strangers at runway shows and swimsuit gigs, but it only made me more aware of myself and damn baby I look and smell good! So why would “he” missed out on such an opportunity to make me red. I mean there is a reason why my daily uniform consists of skirts and dresses.

As I wrote this on the train a fellow lady lurker sitting next to me agreed. Sort of creepy, but it proves my point of how we are not receiving equal treatment. For that reason I will no longer use my DSL to head downtown if I don’t get it first. I’m pretty sure I can go a long time with no problems.

Another qualm I do have but I’ll give some slack for are those guys who do go down, and fail so miserably. A for effort, but F for sucking badly. It’s called eating out for a reason, so baby get a lil’ dirty and bon apetit. That’s all I have to say about that.

I don’t want to fall in love with you; I just want some good satisfaction. And then maybe I’ll fall in love with you.

So for those of you guys who want to do something right for the world I urge you all to start practicing, or read up on this. There is so much information you all severely lack, excluding Canada.

If you want us to go down in the darkness of a cheap movie theater, you got to realize that if we proceed to place our bare knees on sticky popcorn littered theater floor we do expect something in return."

I personally love both giving and receiving, and only hold out on giving if there are any of the following:

Hair (maybe a little bit, but I like um bald)
